Curriculum
Most students in Oregon high schools today have been taught a majority of the testable topics that are found on the CIM Mathematics Knowledge and Skills Assessment. The problem is that most students do not remember everything they have learned when they sit down to take the assessment. Simply spending a short amount of time refreshing your students’ memories can pay huge dividends in the long run.
If students feel confident going into an exam, they are much more likely to take more ownership in the results of the test. Confidence can be built through activities that show students their strengths and gently encourage a development of their weaknesses. The activities found on this page represent a variety of confidence and skill-building materials, ranging from a week-long unit to flashcard review for areas of weakness.
CIM Strand Flashcards
|
The CIM Mathematics Flashcards come in sets of 100 cards. Each card has a CIM-type multiple-choice problem on one side. On the reverse side, the solution is stated and a mini-lesson on how the solution was reached is provided. The set includes twenty laminated 4” by 6” cards for each of the five CIM strands.
The flashcards are perfect for reviewing individually with students in special populations such as Special Education students, or as a class activity in small groups. The strand-specific flashcards can be used to target a student’s weak areas before retesting occurs.
Flashcards are also available in Spanish.
